MA301: Explorations in Maths

Pre-olympiad problem solving

Level: All; Pre-requisites: None

This course lays the foundation of mathematical thinking through Combinatorics, Geometry, Trigonometry, Inequalities and Elementary Number Theory. Gets students ready for taking on the Math Olympiads at various levels.

This program involves about 200 hours of regular meeting time each during a year and about 200 hours of problem solving time in addition to the regular meeting times. There will be four thematic Problem Solving Boot Camps, typically with 6-8 hours of problem solving every day, for a period of one week, wherein students are introduced to past Math Olympiad problems in specific areas of maths. Since there is a lot of student teacher interaction involved, the size of the class is limited to a small number per batch.
